About us

I have enjoyed the architectural adventure since enrolling as a first year student at Wits University in Johannesburg in 1970. Almost 50 years of work, travel and continuous study in places as diverse as South Africa, the US, Australia and more recently the Middle East have equipped me with enough experience to tackle a wide range of design challenges. I'm interested in the underlying principles that underpin all good environments. In a world besotted with mindless shape making posing as contemporary architecture, I search for temporal and spatial answers that speak to our sense of balance and wellbeing.

My goal as Design Principal at DSA Architects was to foster a studio culture in which young talent could thrive in the delivery of our service. We devised a combination of design and management which we successfully employed on a large variety of projects in many different countries.

Every specific question deserves a specific answer - such is design, whether at the scale of a chair or a city. This is my quest. '​ to make a thing timeless, but of it's time'.
